Service Description

"The Great Good Thing," by Roderick Townley "The Tale of Despereaux," by Kate DiCamillo Pre-requisite: Students must have participated in both summer reading groups or read both books this summer in order to join this group Comparing and contrasting are higher-order thinking skills that involve evaluation, synthesis, and application of the knowledge gained. By taking the time to reflect, to consider, and to discuss with each other and with an experienced guide, it will become evident that these two books have many parallel themes that lend themselves naturally to being compared. In a low-pressure atmosphere, your child will have the chance to continue enjoying these two books by making connections between characters, themes, and plot lines. We will also compare the unique writing styles and structure of the stories, which also share interesting similarities. Discussions will include low-pressure, thought-provoking questions for self-reflection through the deep examination of character development, literary devices, theme, setting, and plot.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that summer plans can change, and we do our best to accommodate. All cancellations made prior to May 25 are fully refunded less a $50 cancellation fee. After May 25th, refunds are not given for cancellations.
