Relax & Read 4:45 pm 10 Sessions
a listening and discussion book group for 3rd-5th graders
- 160 US dollars$160
Take a Break. We all need one. Come spend some time with the wonderful book, "The Great Good Thing," by Roderick Townley. Learning happens when we are in a calm, open, and receptive state. Only then can our brains engage and learn new information. The recent turn of events has heightened everyone’s stress levels. Let this time be an opportunity for your child to regroup, relax, and renew with no expectation or goal beyond letting their mind enter another world. Research shows that children in upper elementary grades benefit greatly from being read content that is challenging beyond their independent reading level, and they rarely get this opportunity. This book appeals to a diverse range of readers (boys & girls) with its cast of ruffians and many dangerous adventures. (Sylvie is not your average princess!) The plot, theme, and writing are intellectually stimulating and intriguing. It is a hidden gem that offers a complex storyline, which lends itself to discussion at every turn. Discussions will include low-pressure, thought-provoking questions for self-reflection through the deep examination of character development, literary devices, theme, setting, and plot.
We understand that summer plans can change, and we do our best to accommodate. All cancellations made prior to May 25 are fully refunded less a $50 cancellation fee. After May 25th, refunds are not given for cancellations.
